| I've had a blessed extra day off today (for the Queen's birthday? Or something.) which meant 1) more sleep, 2) actually being sociable with the splendiferous soupytwist, 3) doing some job applications so I'm not in my temp job forever and ever, and 4) finally digging into the revisions on my Big Bang, which will be posted two weeks today. I am, ah, not sure it's going to be in a shape I'm 100% happy with by then but it will be readable, and I lucked out on not one but two amazingly talented artists, and at least now I know I am not very good at writing to an emotional arc rather than to a plot. So now cometh the plea: anyone up for doing beta? Spelling/grammar etc is fine, also Americanisation not necessary because it's AU, but somebody with a good eye for structural issues and emotional coherency in fictional characters would be really appreciated - it's Big Bang, so around 30,000 words, and I have the aforementioned two-week deadline, so ideally someone who could have it back to me in a week/ten days so I have time to make changes (yes, I know I'm cutting it fine). Please? *does big anime eyes* And finally I am trying my first ever writing meme! (Now seen all over my flist.) Because I think it's interesting to find out what sorts of things people want to know about my stories! ... If indeed anyone does. Ask me a question about one of my stories. It can be absolutely anything in any fic and I will tell you the honest-to-god answer. Don’t hold back. Ask about my plans for future parts of my current series if you want to. | Squeaked my Big Bang in at quarter to midnight with 21,300 words. To give some indication of how it is the worst first draft in the history of ever, the final story will probably have about another 10,000 on top of that. All I need to do now is: write the four scenes currently indicated by one-line sentences; incorporate historical research; do historical research; settle on a theme and rewrite to shovel it in; de-emo Sam. This writing experience hasn't been particularly happy for me, I have to admit, which I think is a combination of just never really getting as fired up as I hoped on the story (10,000 of those words were in the last week, in desperation, although I've had a full outline for about two months), and of moving back home and picking up a nine-to-five and a social life again. At least I can comfort myself with the thought that the story is not only a slightly cracky (but not humourous) historical AU, and gen, so will probably appeal to all of about three people. | Untouched versions of spn publicity shots! I want to lick Jensen's neck wrinkles, is that wrong? And give Jared in the last one warm milk and put him to bed. (ON HIS OWN TO SLEEP, PERVERTS.) Haevn't written anything for aaages. I'm starting to get glimmers of the Sam and Dean from my faintly ridiculous Big Bang idea but I am not enthusiastic about it at all. I have next week off so hopefully I will be able to make some inroads, in between frantically begging people (ie, my temp agency who gave me jobs I hated) to employ me and wandering round a lot. Leaving places is HARD. | ||||||
